Acer W4 Finally Official in France, Renamed the Allegro

The Acer W4 has been one of the great Windows Phone no-shows, with the company appearing on Microsoft’s roster of phone partners and then the device itself showing up in June; but nothing since. At the time it wore a November release date, and although this has now been met, it’s still MIA in the UK, as the W4 is only launching in France.
It’s not going to be called the W4 either, at least according the French site which broke the news, and will instead be called the Acer Allegro. While ‘Allegro’ may mean ‘a lively musical tempo’, to anyone over a certain age it merely recalls the invariably brown Austin Allegro, a car so staid it had a square steering wheel.
Unfortunate naming aside, the Allegro’s release spec matches that of its earlier appearances, boasting a 3.6-inch touchscreen with the Windows Phone standard 800 x 480 pixel resolution, plus a 1GHz processor, a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, 8GB of internal memory, Bluetooth 2.1 and Wi-Fi connectivity.
The only feature which makes the Allegro standout from the crowd is something called Fast Charge, which promises to charge the 1300mAh battery two-and-a-half times faster than other Acer devices take. What that means in the real world isn’t clear, but the faster modern smartphones charge, the better!
Those across the Channel will be able to choose their Allegro in either white or blue, provided they hand over 299 euros for it. It’s out in November, but word has yet to spread whether it’ll be released anywhere else; however with its basic spec it’ll have plenty of competition on these shores unless the price is significantly lowered beforehand.
Acer Liquid E Review
At this time the universal mobile gadget market is subjugated by the Android OS. Every single mobile producer is putting out the newest handsets preloaded with the most up-to-date editions of the Android. One strange business in the middle of the plentiful cell phone makers is the Acer Company. Acer is not very famous because of its cell phones.
The major thing that identifies Acer is the desire series of laptops and net books that strike the market with great force. But in the cell phone market it is reasonably a novice. Indeed the array of cell phones that Acer released was very limited in figures and the total number of released models amount to a total of 15. That is perceptibly a very low number for a cell phone manufacturer, but still the phones that Acer did manage to release are very top mark and significantly consistent phones.
The hottest cell phone from Acer is an Android phone called the Liquid E. The handset seems great and feels great. Thickness is just above 12mm which makes it an imposingly thin handset considering its hardware specs. In hardware it is one of the greatest handsets but with a very low price. The Liquid E has a 768MHz Snapdragon processor and 256MB RAM. This is very exciting because the handset costs around $320. In this price you also get a 5MP autofocus camera, Wi-Fi, 3G connectivity, Android Éclair, and accelerometer. Generally the handset has a gorgeous exterior and UI and is obtainable at quite a bargain.
